LASU VC suggests whitles-blowing policy on campus to expose randy lecturers
In a bid to address the rising cases of corrupt practices in tertiary institutions in Nigeria the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun has suggested the introduction of whistleblowing policy to tackle all forms of malpractices.
Fagbohun made this
suggestion in response to questions about the sex-for-mark saga which
involves a lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University and a
yet-to-be-identified student when he was taking journalists round the
campus in appreciation of infrastructural development in the school.
Recall that Prof Richard Akindele, a lecturer in the Department of Management and Accounting was allegedly heard in an audio recording demanding a sex romp from the student who scored 33 in his course to increase her grade
The VC said LASU has been able to enjoy relevant peace in the last one year because of the introduction of the policy.
He,
however, advised university administrator to encourage students and
staff of their institutions to come forward to give relevant information
about any bad conduct either among the students, staff or management.
