10-man Nigeria beat Sudan 1-0 to reach CHAN 2018 final

10-man home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria showed resilient to beat Sudan 1-0 on Wednesday, January 31 to reach the final of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
Gabriel Okechukwu continued his impressive outing in the tournament by netting Nigeria's winner in the 16th minute to set up a final date with host Morocco.

Both sides finished the game with 10 men but the Super Eagles had to show resilient to hold on to their lead to reach the final.
The home-based Super Eagles side were dealt a blow when goalkeeper and captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa was forced off with an injury after colliding with Mohamed Hashim.

His replacement Ajiboye Oladale was however very impressive, pulling off several excellent saves to keep Sudan from finding an equaliser.
In a very cagey game, Nigeria took the lead through Okechukwu in the 16th minute after racing on a flick from teammate Anthony Okpotu to slid past Sudan goalkeeper Akram El Hadi for his goal.
That was his second goal of the tournament after netting Nigeria's winner in the quarter-final against Angola.

Okputu had the chance to double Nigeria's lead two minutes later he couldn’t beat Akram when he was one on one with Sudan goalie Akram.

Pressure from Sudan

Sudan kept coming at the Nigerians looking for a way back into the game but Ajiboye was smart to save a glancing header by  Ahmed Bashir on the stroke of time.
Sudan continued to dominate the game and in the 57th minute, Nigeria were reduced to 10 men when Ifeanyi Ifeanyi was shown his second yellow card of the game after a foul.

The Desert Hawks kept coming at the Nigerians and it was Ajiboye again who rescued Nigeria again, tipping Abdel Latif close-range shot over the bar.
Super Eagles defender Stephen Eze was also on hand to clear a goalbound shot on the line.

Sudan were reduced to 10-man in the 87th minute after Bakri Makki was sent off fouling Okechukwu just outside the area after he had run clear from a counter attack.
Ajiboye made two saves again in stoppage time to hold Nigeria’s lead.
The home-based Super Eagles will face Morocco in the final on Sunday, February 4 while Sudan will play Libya in the third-place game final on Saturday, February 3.
