ASUU Strike - FG's meeting with union ends in deadlock

A move by the Federal Government to stop the ongoing industrial action initiated by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suffered a setback.
The meeting between the government and ASUU, which was held in Abuja on Thursday, August 17, reportedly ended in a stalemate.
The two parties, however, made progress as the Federal government made new offers to the union, Vanguard reports.
The representatives of the government, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, and ASUU resolved to reconvene within a week, to continue the negotiations.
