NANS passes vote of confidence on INEC boss , disagree hike in fees.

The National Association of Nigerians Students (NANS) zone C has passed a vote of confidence that kicked against hike in the tuition fees in higher institutions of learning in the country.

The NANS deputy zone C coordinator Mr. Mathew Dafoum Naankin made this known on Wednesday in Keffi  during a press briefing  by the leadership of the Association in collaboration with the collation of Youth for Good Governance .

He said the increased in school fees by the management of various higher institutions of learning has created untold hardship to the parents there by affecting the education of the children of the poor parents negatively.

Dafoum Naankin also said that the organization has passes such a vote of confidence on the leadership style of the National Chairman, National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof.Mahmood Yakubu based on his good policies in transforming the nation’s electoral system.

The NANS body called on the security agencies to take all necessary actions against the perpetrators of the planned domes ration against Prof.Yakubu.

“The Association of Nigerians Students (NANS) has noticed with dismay plans by some fake and non authorized persons to smear the name of the association in campaign of calumny against the person of Prof.Mahmood Yakubu and to ridicule the credibility of the organization he is currently heading-INEC.

“We at NANS wish to categorically dissociate ourselves with any person, group or association seeking to smug the name of our association in to political issue especially as it relates to INEC or any agency of government.

“We are bold to state that NANS is proud to associate with the modest achievements of Prof. Yakubu while at TETFUND and have been an ardent believer of his capabilities to transform and improve services in every institution he is assigned to lead.

“We are not in doubt that the country has benefitted and will continue to benefit from the commitment, selfishness and fore bearing scholarship of the Pro.Yakubu especially as within his tenure he was able to positively and add value to the Nigeria electoral process, “he said.

According to him, “we are solidly in support of Prof.Yakubu on any action takes and we will not encourage actions that would put him and /or INEC in to disrepute, he has done well at TETFUND and is doing well in INEC.

The Deputy Coordinator called on Nigerians to continue to support the INEC boss to enable him conduct free,fair and credible  election  in the country.

Also speaking, Ramlat Zubairu,Vice President of Coalition of Youth for Good Governance said that the organization is in support of the leadership style of the INEC boss.

She said that the organization would continue to educate youths and imitate good policies and programmes in order to better the standard of living of youths and Nigerians at large.

Our correspondence reports that NANS zone C is made of  10 states of the federation which Adamawa,Benue,Borno,Kogi,Kwarra,Nasarawa,Plateau,Taraba,Yobe and FCT.
