FMC Keffi dismisses 4 staff over theft, misconduct .

The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN),Federal Medical Centre(FMC),Keffi chapter said on that four of its union members were dismissed by the management of the centre over theft and other misconducts.

Mr. Monday Otso, the chairman of the union made this known on Thursday in Keffi LGA of nasarawa state during  a one day seminar titled “Work Ethics: A Panacea for Effective Service Delivery in a Tertiary Health Institution,FMC Keffi in Focus organized for members of the union.

Otso disclosed that the union decided to organized the seminar for members of the union so as to acquaint members with recent developments and etiquette as its affect work ethics and general conduct by members for the overall development of the health sector and the country at large.

He said the management of the centre dismissed two of the union members over theft, one was dismissed over continued absent from duties post and one was dismissed over sabotage,.

“Over the years and indeed in more recent times, a good number of our members who are not conversant  with the provisions of the public service rules  and scheme of service  have gotten themselves entangled with discordant  practices that do not conform with the provisions of the law.

“This has led to either the issuance of queries, stoppage of salaries and in some instances dismissal from the service, poised with the enthusiasm to nip this development  in the mud and to create a more enabling environment  for our teeming members,".

According to him, “we have decided also to put this very important seminar together to further consolidate on our campaign promises so as better the standard of living of our members and for the overall development of the health sector.he added.

He however tasked the members of the union to be reliable, dedicated, punctual and to shun all negative acts capable of tarnishing their image and the image of the union in the interest of national development.

The Union Chairman commended Dr.Joshua Giyan, the centre’s Medical Director and his management team for given adequate attention to the welfare of staff and called for its sustenance.

In a Key note address delivered by Dr.Joshua Giyan, the centre’s Medical Director urged members of the union and other staff to abide by the rules and work ethics guiding public service so as to avoid been sanctioned or  get  their appointment been terminated.

Giyan, who was represented by the Head of the Clinical Services, Dr.Luka Samuel assured the staff of the centre of the management readiness to continue to give topmost priority to their welfare and called on them to be hard working on their duties post.

The Director urged members to take the seminar with all seriousness in their interest, and in the interest of the health sector for the overall development of the country.

News Now reports that the seminar featured different papers presentation and officials of the union from the state level among other health experts and other dignitaries attended the seminar.
