Barrow sworn in as Gambian president



The Gambia President-elect, Adama Barrow, has been sworn in at the country’s embassy in Dakar, the Senegalese capital.

In his inaugural address, Barrow expressed his gratitude to Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, who is the chairman of the ECOWAS Mediation Group, Liberia’s Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Macky Sall of Senegal, ex- President John Mahama of Ghana, ECOWAS, African Union and other international organisations for their commitment to democratic principles in Gambia.


The oath of office was administered on the new President at 6:02 p.m. Nigerian time.
